MOSCOW, November 17 (RAPSI) – Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin on Tuesady signed a decree to extend distance learning for schoolchildren in grades 6-11 once more, until December 6, amid the coronavirus outbreak, according to a statement on his official website.
The number of COVID-19 cases is still rising. Last week, 41,000 were infected with coronavirus in the city that is 1.5 times more than in early October. However, the amount of the infected schoolchildren is nearly on the same level, 1,500 – 2,200 cases a week, the Mayor stated. He believes that distance education is an effective preventive measure against coronavirus.
Sobyanin also pointed stabilization in the disease incidence among Moscow residents aged 65 and older.
