KIROV, March 26 – RAPSI. The Leninsky District Court in the town of Kirov has received the embezzlement case concerning the Kirovles logging company, the court session secretary Yelena Korshunova told RIA Novosti on Tuesday. Opposition blogger Alexei Navalny has been charged in the case.

“The case is being examined by the judge,” she said. “The hearing date has yet to be scheduled.”

The judge will examine the case within one month, Korshunova added.

Investigators said earlier that Navalny organized the embezzlement of the Kirovles company's property in collusion with Vyatskaya Lesnaya Kompaniya Director Pyotr Ofitserov and Kirovles CEO Vyacheslav Opalyov while serving as an adviser to the Kirov governor on a voluntary basis.

Investigators believe that over 10,000 cubic meters of Kirovles timber products were embezzled from May to September 2009, leading to 16 million rubles in regional budgetary losses.

Navalny and Ofitserov face up to 10 years in prison.

Earlier, the Leninsky District Court had considered the criminal case against Opalyov, with whom the prosecutor secured an immunity agreement. Opalyov received a four-year suspended sentence.
