KIEV, April 29 (RAPSI) – The District Administrative Court of Kiev on Tuesday postponed the hearing of a lawsuit filed by Ukraine’s National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting concerning the barring of four Russian TV channels in Ukraine until May 6, RAPSI reports.
Four TV channels were suspended in Ukraine on March 25, including: Channel One. Global Network, RTR-Planeta, Russia 24, and NTV Mir.
Ukraine’s National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting asks the court to declare the channels’ programs conflicting with the European Convention on Transfrontier Television and a law of Ukraine.
On Tuesday, the plaintiff asked to hold a comprehensive psychological and analytical expert examination of the TV programs.
The All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company’s (VGTRK) lawyer earlier filed a request to revoke the temporary suspension of the channels. On April 15, the motion was rejected.
If the Council’s claim is granted the ban on broadcasting will take effect on a constant basis.
