ST. PETERSBURG, August 24 - RAPSI. The St.Petersburg's District Court deferred a number of lawsuits against Madonna and the organizers of her concert in St.Petersburg suing them for a total of $10.5 million, the plaintiff's representative Alexander Pochuyev told RIA Novosti.
Madonna, who held a show in St. Petersburg as part of her controversial MDNA tour, urged St. Petersburg residents to be friendlier to the LGBT community during her performance.
Last Friday activists sued Madonna and the concert organizers for 333 million rubles ($10.5 million). They claim that they were offended by her explicit support for homosexuality.
"The lawsuits were deferred. We believe this was because we did not file Luiza Ciccone's (Madonna's real name) correct address. Now we are trying to solve the issue... but it will take a a little time," Pochuyev said.
Earlier, Vitaly Milonov, who drafted the city law restricting the promotion of homosexuality, said the performance was attended by NGOs which checked its compliance with morality regulations.
They recorded the event and said 12-year-old children were at the concert, he said. Activists filed several applications last week with the police seeking to declare Madonna in breach of the law.
