MOSCOW, July 5 (RAPSI, Oleg Sivozhelezov) – The Blagoveshchensk City Court in Russia’s Amur Region will consider a criminal case over embezzlement of over 1.2 billion rubles (about $20.2 million) mostly allocated to the construction of notorious Vostochny Cosmodrome, the court’s official website reads on Wednesday.
The criminal case was launched against head manager of Krasnoyarsk’s company USIO Dmitry Vishnevsky. He is charged with embezzlement committed by a person through his official position on a large scale.
According to the indictment, from February 2012 to May 2014 Vishnevsky embezzled nearly 900 million rubles (about $15.1 million) allocated for the construction of the Cosmodrome’s facilities. About 300 million rubles (about $5.1 million) more were expected to be allocated to construction and reconstruction of objects in the Novosibirsk Region. A criminal case against founder of USIO company will be reviewed as a separate case. Defendants face up to 10 years in prison.
