MOSCOW, July 24 - RAPSI. The Basmanny District Court has rescheduled from August 8 to July 26 its hearing of Ksenia Sobchak's complaint that her cash was unlawfully seized by investigators who searched her apartment, the court told the Russian Legal Information Agency on Tuesday.
Earlier, her defense attorney Henry Reznik said the court has violated the steps for initiating case proceedings, which must be performed within five days after the submission of a request.
Instead, the court scheduled the hearing of the lawsuit for August 8.
However, the defense contested the hearing date and it has been accelerated.
He added that a request to return the money has also been sent to the investigators, but the issue has not yet been resolved.
The apartments of opposition activists were searched in the Bolotnaya Square riots case on June 11. Sobchak's apartment was searched, although she did not attend the rally.
Investigators claimed that they sought opposition leader Ilya Yashin. They found both him and a safe containing large amounts of cash in her apartment. They issued a summons to Yashin to go to the Investigative Committee, and seized the cash in the safe, which amounted to 1,392,000 euro.
